Chinese Class & College Happenings

Thursday 17th March

The class I'm excited about is here! Gong lao shi started introducing different types of tea and which area do they mostly grow at. There are red tea, yellow tea, green tea, white tea etc. Long Jing Cha is the high class tea and Pu Er Cha is the tea that is the exceptional, the longer the tea leaves are left, the higher the value is. The very good tea leaves can be more expensive than gold. He was so nice, he brought 2 luggages of tea utensils just to show us how to make a cup of tea.

The demo began and we all got to try. There were 2 mini cups used to drink each time. The tall one that you see in the picture was to keep the tea warm as the surface area is smaller. Before you drink, you invert the broad-surface-cup, put it above the tall cup and turn it over. Thus, the tea won't leak. Before you have a sip, you need to feel the aroma for a few secs. You musn't gobble all at once, but drink 3 times to finish it. It's only one of the techniques. The other one is those we saw from tv series, the big cup with a lid.

I learnt a lot but it's hard to explain it here, too many procedures, the water temperature and yada yada. Next week, we gonna learn about chinese wine and some alcohol! This class is so cool!! :D

My chinese class go till at 6.45pm and I got the formal function in Georges which started at 630. I rushed back and take 10mins to prepare everything and go down to the quad.

Lavenia, Shan and me

Kim got the scholarship! Congrats to her.

Today the 19th March

We decided to cook curry and had a good lunch instead of the boring college sandwich. Mmm, yum but fattening! Coconut milk in curry, roti prata, oily stuff. Hah.
